EU Ambassador Visits The Times Kuwait offices

The Times Kuwait  welcomed Her Excellency Anne Koistinen, Ambassador of the European Union to the State of Kuwait, during a courtesy visit to the newspaper’s offices, where she met with Editor-in-Chief Tareq Yousef
Al Shumaimry and Executive Managing Editor Reaven D’Souza.

Discussions focused on a broad range of topics, including the evolving geopolitical landscape, regional and global developments, economic cooperation, sustainability, digital transformation, cultural diplomacy, and the increasingly important role of responsible journalism in fostering informed public discourse.

Welcoming Ambassador Koistinen, Al-Shumaimry highlighted The Times Kuwait’s commitment to delivering credible, balanced, and insightful journalism that connects Kuwait with the international community. He emphasized the publication’s role in promoting dialogue, understanding, and constructive engagement on issues of regional and global significance.

Executive Managing Editor Reaven D’Souza briefed the Ambassador on the newspaper’s editorial vision, expanding digital presence, and its efforts to serve Kuwait’s diverse multicultural readership. He also underscored The Times Kuwait’s focus on covering diplomatic, economic, business, cultural, and community developments that strengthen Kuwait’s international partnerships.

Ambassador Koistinen commended The Times Kuwait for its contribution to the country’s English-language media landscape and its role in promoting informed dialogue. She noted that a vibrant and responsible media plays an essential role in enhancing public understanding of international affairs and building stronger people-to-people connections.

The discussions also explored the broad and multifaceted relationship between the European Union and Kuwait, including cooperation in trade and investment, education, innovation, renewable energy, climate action, security, and cultural exchange. Both sides acknowledged the importance of continued collaboration in addressing global challenges while promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on the EU’s priorities in the Gulf region and Kuwait’s growing role as a regional partner committed to dialogue, diplomacy, and international cooperation.

At the conclusion of the visit, the two sides reaffirmed the importance of maintaining close engagement between diplomatic missions and the media in fostering mutual understanding and encouraging constructive public dialogue. They also expressed their shared commitment to strengthening communication and cooperation in areas of common interest.
