EU Ambassador to Kuwait warns of dangerous regional escalation

European Union Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, H.E. Anne Koistinen, voiced the EU’s deep concern over the escalating tensions in the region, stressing that European leaders are urging all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and avoid further retaliation.

Speaking to Al-Rai, Koistinen highlighted that top EU officials — including European Council President António Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, and Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica — have united in calling for immediate de-escalation, warning that continued military action risks plunging the region into deeper instability.

“The use of force cannot resolve the region’s complex challenges,” Koistinen emphasized.

“Diplomacy and dialogue remain the only viable path forward, and the European Union is fully committed to supporting any initiatives aimed at promoting peace.”
