‘Erdogan’s visit reflects continued cooperation, understanding between Kuwait and Turkey’

Kuwaiti Ambassador to Turkey H.E. Abdulaziz Al-Adwani affirmed that relations between Kuwait and Turkey have remained close, vibrant, and deeply rooted for nearly six decades, strengthened by shared visions, mutual respect, and common interests across multiple fields.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s official visit to Kuwait, Ambassador Al-Adwani described the visit as a continuation of the longstanding approach of cooperation and understanding between the two friendly nations.
He recalled in this regard the recent state visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Turkey in May 2024, which further advanced bilateral relations.
Al-Adwani noted that the exchange of high-level visits reflects the keenness of both leaderships to develop bilateral relations, follow up on political, economic, and developmental partnerships, and strengthen joint cooperation in all fields.
He highlighted that the two countries celebrated the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations last year, emphasizing the historical depth and strength of ties, as well as Turkey’s principled support for Kuwait during the 1990 Iraqi invasion, which remains a defining moment in their shared history.
The ambassador pointed out the remarkable growth in economic cooperation between Kuwait and Turkey since 2000, with coordination continuing on regional and international issues through platforms such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Gulf–Turkey Cooperation Council.
He also praised the mutual humanitarian support exchanged during crises—recalling Turkey’s provision of medical equipment to Kuwait during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Kuwait’s swift humanitarian response following the 2023 earthquakes in Turkey, including the dispatch of aid and rescue teams.
Ambassador Al-Adwani concluded that President Erdogan’s visit to Kuwait represents a continuation of the steadfast brotherly approach that unites the two nations and peoples—an approach rooted in shared humanitarian, political, and developmental values, and aimed at consolidating peace, prosperity, and stability in the region.
President Erdogan, accompanied by an official delegation, is scheduled to arrive in Kuwait today for an official visit, during which he will hold talks with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
