End of afternoon work ban announced by PAM

Campaign Concludes as Summer Work Restrictions End

The Public Authority for Manpower has officially announced the conclusion of its “Their Safety is More Important” campaign, marking the end of the afternoon work ban in open areas. This ban, which was in effect from June 1 to August 31, prohibited work from 11 am to 4 pm due to extreme weather conditions.

Marzouq Al-Otaibi, the acting Director General of the Manpower Authority, highlighted the Authority’s efforts in organizing awareness campaigns and inspections to enforce Administrative Resolution No. 535 of 2015. This regulation ensures that workers are not employed in exposed workplaces during harsh climatic conditions.

Inspection Results and Compliance Efforts

From June 1 to August 31, 2024, the noon work inspection team, affiliated with the National Center for Occupational Health and Safety, covered all governorates. Their findings include:

  • 205 Violating Sites Inspected: 213 workers were employed in these sites.
  • 58 Reports Received: 129 sites were found in violation for the first time.
  • 119 Sites Re-Inspected: Compliance was ensured, with 7 sites still in violation upon re-inspection.

Al-Otaibi emphasized that the regulation of working hours under Administrative Resolution No. 535/2015 does not reduce work hours but ensures the protection of workers without delaying ongoing projects. The Authority expressed gratitude to those who adhered to the regulation and to the citizens who reported violations of the noon work ban.
