Employees in public, private sectors asked to verify academic qualifications on Sahel App
Civil Service Commission warns against forged certificates, urges data accuracy

The Committee for Examining Academic Certificates has stressed the importance of updating employee data across government agencies and the private sector, according to notifications sent through the unified government services application, Sahel.
Narjis Abdul Rasoul, Assistant Undersecretary for Scholarships and Study Leaves at the Civil Service Commission, told KUNA that the committee recently held an orientation forum with representatives from ministries, public bodies, state-owned companies, and other institutions to clarify its role and outline the responsibilities of each entity in achieving the committee’s objectives.
Abdul Rasoul explained that the committee’s main goals are to verify the accuracy and integrity of employee data and to confirm the validity of academic qualifications for both citizens and residents in public and private sectors, ensuring that financial and job privileges are preserved.
The Assistant Undersecretary added that employees seeking equivalency for qualifications obtained outside Kuwait can submit requests through the Ministry of Higher Education’s website or via the Ministry’s service in the Sahel app, following sequential steps until electronic equivalency is granted.
She praised the collaborative efforts of sub-teams in the Civil Service Bureau, the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Public Authority for Manpower, and stressed the importance of cooperation between liaison officers in all entities to ensure smooth operations and prompt achievement of the committee’s goals.
Abdul Rasoul also highlighted the legal consequences of forgery, citing Article 259 of the Kuwaiti Penal Code No. 61 of 1960, which prescribes imprisonment for up to five years, a fine of up to 5,000 dinars, or both for anyone knowingly using a forged academic or professional certificate.
She emphasized that strict enforcement of these penalties helps maintain the integrity of official documents, ensures fairness in professional and financial entitlements, and strengthens trust, transparency, and equality in society.
