Emirates celebrates UAE–Kuwait Week, showcases deep-rooted ties in the sky

Emirates joined the UAE–Kuwait Week celebrations with a series of special onboard experiences, paying tribute to the historic and enduring relationship between the two nations.
To mark the occasion, the airline delighted passengers on its 30 weekly flights between Dubai and Kuwait with a curated selection of traditional desserts across all cabin classes.

Travelers were served a Pistachio Rahash Tart in every cabin, while First and Business Class passengers enjoyed an exclusive Gahwa Tart, and Premium Economy and Economy Class customers were treated to a Toffee Date Cake. Special onboard announcements also highlighted the significance of the commemorative week.

Passengers were further immersed in Kuwaiti culture through a rich lineup of Arabic entertainment. Emirates’ inflight system featured popular Kuwaiti films and television shows such as Gergasha, Fath Hesab, Al Sohba Al Holwa, and Darb Al Zalag, alongside music albums by celebrated Kuwaiti artists including Abdallah Al Rowaished, Mutref Al Mutref, and Nabeel Shuail.

In a symbolic gesture reflecting the strong bonds between the two countries, Flight EK855 on 2 February was operated by Kuwaiti Captain Husain Alabdulmohsen and Emirati First Officer Ishaq Abdulla, underscoring the spirit of cooperation and shared values between the UAE and Kuwait.

Kuwait holds a special place in Emirates’ history as one of the first GCC destinations in its network. Services began in 1989 with just two weekly Boeing 727 flights. Today, 29 of the 30 weekly flights are operated by retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft and the latest Airbus A350s, all featuring the popular Premium Economy cabin along with Emirates’ signature products.

Over the past three decades, the airline has carried more than 16 million passengers on over 81,000 flights to and from Kuwait, connecting travelers to Dubai and over 150 global destinations. Kuwait is also home to more than 268,000 Emirates Skywards members.

Kuwait was among the first destinations to welcome Emirates’ Airbus A350 when it entered service in January 2025. The airline now operates two daily A350 flights on the route, offering passengers enhanced comfort with wider aisles, quieter cabins, advanced mood lighting designed to reduce jet lag, and the award-winning ice inflight entertainment system.

Strengthening connectivity further, Emirates and Kuwait Airways signed an interline agreement last year. The partnership enables Kuwait Airways passengers to access 19 destinations on the Emirates network, including Australia, China, Japan, the United States, and South Africa. Emirates customers, in turn, benefit from expanded regional access via Kuwait Airways to destinations such as Egypt, Iraq, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.

Beyond passenger travel, Emirates continues to play a key role in trade links between Kuwait and global markets. The airline operates a weekly freighter service, and over the past five years, Emirates SkyCargo has transported more than 165,000 tonnes of cargo to and from Kuwait. Shipments have included fresh produce, pharmaceuticals, mail, and courier goods, supporting local businesses in reaching international markets.
