Embassy of Georgia celebrates National Day, 33 years of diplomatic ties with vision for expanded cooperation

In a vibrant celebration marking Georgia’s National Day, the Embassy of Georgia in Kuwait hosted a reception attended by senior officials, diplomats, and distinguished guests.

The guest of the evening was Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs, Ambassador Sadeq Ma’arafi, who praised the deep-rooted and evolving relationship between Kuwait and Georgia, describing it as “distinguished and solid.”

The event served as a testament to the enduring friendship and growing cooperation between the two nations, especially as they commemorate 33 years of diplomatic relations and prepare for a new chapter of high-level engagement and strategic partnership.

Ambassador Ma’arafi, praised the strength of relations between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Georgia, describing them as “distinguished and solid.”

Ma’arafi said: “This year we celebrate 33 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries — a distinguished relationship we are keen to develop in all fields,” adding that arrangements are currently underway to organize high-level reciprocal visits before the end of this year.

He affirmed that efforts are being made to sign a number of cooperation agreements during the upcoming visits, noting that bilateral relations are witnessing increasing growth, especially in the tourism sector, where Georgia has recently recorded a notable rise in the number of Kuwaiti tourists, supported by the availability of direct flights between the two countries.

For his part, the Ambassador of Georgia to Kuwait, Nosherwan Lomtatidze, expressed his pleasure in hosting the attendees on the occasion of his country’s Independence Day, affirming that Kuwait is a key international partner for Georgia, and that relations between the two countries are based on strong, multi-dimensional friendship and cooperation.

Lomtatidze said: “It has been a year since I arrived in this beautiful country, Kuwait, which I consider the jewel of the Gulf. I have found nothing but warm hospitality and kindness from the Kuwaiti people, which has made me feel as if I am in my second home.”

The Georgian ambassador extended his gratitude to Georgia’s friends in Kuwait, especially highlighting his meeting with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad, which he described as a motivating force for enhancing bilateral partnership. He also expressed his deep appreciation to His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled for his continuous support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He further expressed gratitude to His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah, describing his meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia last February as “excellent,” and commended the active role played by Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Al-Yahya in strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially following his productive meeting with his Georgian counterpart, which revitalized relations with a new agenda.

In conclusion, the Georgian ambassador thanked the government and people of Kuwait, affirming his country’s aspiration to enhance bilateral partnership in tourism, culture, and education, and invited Kuwaiti businesspeople and citizens to explore investment opportunities in Georgia in the hospitality, real estate, and agriculture sectors.

He also expressed his appreciation to Assistant Foreign Minister Ambassador Sadeq Ma’arafi for his gracious attendance and thanked all attendees for participating in the celebration of Georgia’s National Day.
