Electronic media driving force behind GCC identity, awareness
Lafi Al-Subaie said given the rapid developments in the digital world, electronic media is no longer just a means of expression, but a powerful tool for shaping societal awareness, building public opinion, and strengthening the common identity of the GCC peoples.

Lafi Al-Subaie, Assistant Undersecretary for Press, Publishing, and Publications at the Ministry of Information, chaired the 10th meeting of electronic media officials from GCC countries on Monday, organized by the General Secretariat via video conference, Al Qabas newspaper reported.
Al-Subaie conveyed the greetings of Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Minister of Information, Minister of Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, to the attendees, emphasizing the importance of these periodic meetings for continuous coordination on initiatives that enhance joint cooperation between the Gulf States, in light of the support from the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council, may God protect and preserve them. He also highlighted Kuwait’s role in chairing the current session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Al-Subaie explained that, given the rapid developments in the digital world, electronic media is no longer just a means of expression, but a powerful tool for shaping societal awareness, building public opinion, and strengthening the common identity of the GCC peoples.
He added, “It is our duty to work together to enhance electronic media content that reflects the spirit of cooperation and solidarity between our countries, highlights the common denominators that unite us, preserves our intellectual and cultural security, promotes the values of tolerance and coexistence, and supports the development process in our countries.”
During the meeting, the decision of the 26th meeting of the Ministers of Information of the GCC countries regarding the general framework of the strategic plan for joint media cooperation (2023-2030) was reviewed.
Additionally, the decisions from the 27th meeting concerning the awareness media plan, which includes protecting morals, social upbringing, instilling Gulf values and identity, and the joint digital initiative on digital safety for Gulf children, were also discussed.
The draft age classification for electronic games in the GCC countries was also discussed, and committee members reviewed the General Secretariat’s memorandum regarding joint cooperation in electronic media between the GCC countries, the Kingdom of Morocco, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to enhance collaboration.
