Electricity cuts hit six zones to stabilize power network
The programmed power cuts affected non-residential areas of Abdali, Wafra, Al-Rai, Sulaibia, Amghara, and Sabhan.
• The shutdown of gas processing units by the National Petroleum Company caused a decline in the quality of gas supplied to some electricity generation units in power plants.
The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy announced power cuts in parts of several non-residential areas, including Abdali, Wafra, Al-Rai, Sulaibia, Amghara, and Sabhan, to ensure the stability of the country’s electrical system, according to Al Jaridanewspaper.
The ministry indicated that it resorted to programmed power cuts as needed due to a complete shutdown of gas processing units by the National Petroleum Company earlier this morning. This shutdown led to a reduction in the quality of gas supplied to some electricity generation units in power plants.
The ministry has updated that power has been restored to all six of these areas, after it was cut off for nearly an hour.
