Election Affairs Department begins receiving nominations

The Election Affairs Department at the Ministry of Interior began receiving nomination papers today from citizens wishing to contest the upcoming 2024 National Assembly elections.
The Al-Qabas daily said the nomination papers will be accepted for 10 consecutive days, until Wednesday, March 13, during official working hours.
Former Speaker of the National Assembly Ahmed Al-Saadoun was the first to file his nomination papers. After filing his papers Al-Saadoun said: “I hope that we in Kuwait are on the verge of reform.” He added, “The agreement of 48 members on the priorities of a legislative map is a precedent that has not occurred in Kuwait before.”
Other former MPs who filed their nomination papers on the first day are Issa Al-Kandari, Muhannad Al-Sayer, Abdul-Karim Al-Kandari, Khaled Al-Monayes, Hamad Al-Matar and Marzouq Al-Khalifa.
