Egyptian gets for 10 years jail, 1 mln dinars fine for embezzling public funds

The Court of Cassation has upheld a 10-year prison sentence with hard labor for an Egyptian man who worked as financial manager for a public benefit association in Kuwait for embezzling large sums of money.

The court, following completion of the prison term, ordered that the convict be deported from the country, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The court also ordered the man to pay a fine of one million Kuwaiti dinars.

According to court papers the convict did not only exploit his position to unlawfully increase his own salary, add illegitimate payments, but also ordered unauthorized payments to others.
