‘Education’ readies 90 shelters and emergency plans amid regional tensions

In response to the recent military escalation in the region, Kuwait’s Ministry of Education announced on Friday evening that 90 fully equipped emergency shelters have been prepared and are under continuous monitoring by Civil Defense teams.

The move comes as part of comprehensive efforts to ensure the safety of students and the continuity of the educational process.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Ministry affirmed it is “monitoring the situation on a daily and continuous basis in coordination with relevant authorities,” with full readiness to respond swiftly to any developments.

Minister of Education, Eng. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, held a meeting remotely with senior educational officials to assess field readiness and strengthen emergency coordination across all educational institutions.

He emphasized the importance of activating rapid response teams and ensuring seamless communication among agencies to safeguard students, teachers, and administrative staff—particularly during the critical exam period.

The Ministry also reassured students and parents that twelfth-grade second semester exams will continue as scheduled, with no changes to the timeline. Control procedures are proceeding smoothly under the direct oversight of the Minister and educational leadership.

Rapid response teams across school districts have been mobilized and are fully prepared to handle any emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to education and maintaining high levels of institutional preparedness.

The Ministry concluded by wishing students success in their exams and called on God Almighty to protect Kuwait, its leadership, and its people, and to preserve the nation’s security and stability.
