Education ministry sets flexible working and school hours during Ramadan

The Ministry of Education has finalized the working hours for all employees and study schedules for students during the holy month of Ramadan for government schools and private Arabic schools. The official circular confirming these timings is expected to be released shortly.

According to informed sources, the school hours and working schedules for students, teachers, and administrative staff at various educational levels are as follows:

Student Timings:

Kindergarten: 9:40 am – 10:00 am arrival; dismissal between 12:55 pm – 1:10 pm.

Primary School: 9:25 am – 1:45 pm, covering seven 30-minute periods with two 15-minute breaks.

Middle School: 9:20 am – 2:00 pm, seven periods of 30–35 minutes each, with two 15-minute breaks.

High School: 9:30 am – 2:10 pm, seven periods of 30–35 minutes with a 15-minute break.

Employee Working Hours:

Kindergarten Staff: 8:30 am – 9:00 am; 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm.

Primary School Staff: 9:00 am – 9:30 am; 1:30 pm – 2:00 pm.

Middle School Staff: 9:00 am – 9:30 am; 1:30 pm – 2:00 pm.

Secondary School staff: 9:10 am – 9:40 am; 1:40 pm – 2:10 pm.

Technical Supervisors: Flexible working from 9:00 am – 9:30 am; 1:30 pm – 2:00 pm.

General Office Employees: Morning flexible hours from 8:30 am – 10:30 am (4.5-hour shift), with departure based on arrival time; evening hours from 6:45 pm for 4.5 hours.

All employees are required to adhere to attendance recording via fingerprint systems, and exceptions for reduced hours or partial absence will only apply to approvals from the Public Authority for Disability Affairs, reports Al-Rai daily.

A total of 67 minutes of lateness is allowed during Ramadan.

The Ministry aims to provide flexibility while maintaining educational standards and operational efficiency throughout the holy month.
