“Education Ministry” moves to restructure private education with comprehensive policy

In a move to streamline and enhance the private education sector, Minister of Education Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei has formed a specialized task force to develop a comprehensive regulatory framework.

This initiative aims to clearly define the roles and responsibilities of departments, supervisory offices, and staff across private Arab and foreign schools. It will also establish guidelines for operations, enforce laws, and outline penalties, ensuring a more structured and efficient education system.

The decision outlines the team’s responsibilities, including gathering essential data on the administration, its affiliated bodies, and beneficiaries—such as internal departments, school owners, and external accreditation bodies.

Additionally, the team will review and organize past decisions while formulating new regulations aligned with modern laws to support advancements in the educational process.

Importantly, the decision also mandates the development of an electronic system for academic certificates, serving as the official reference for all certificates issued by private schools.

This program will include a mechanism for verifying and equating certificates between private schools and the Ministry of Education, ensuring their approval for university admissions while maintaining a secure and reliable record of academic credentials.

To ensure fair and realistic academic assessments across diverse educational systems in private education, Minister Al-Tabtabaei has tasked the specialized team with developing a unified and precise equivalency framework.

This methodology will account for the unique grading structures of each system, assigning relative weight to maintain fairness in grade distribution. By aligning evaluation methods with the standards of each system, the initiative aims to provide an accurate and equitable reflection of students’ academic performance.

The Ministry of Education stated that the specialized work team will develop comprehensive regulatory standards for both Arab and foreign private education systems.

Private educational institutions will be required to register students, maintain accurate records, and submit verified data to the Ministry’s Information Systems Department.

This process will ensure the issuance of standardized certificates with official Ministry references and integrate student grades into a dedicated electronic system. The initiative aims to streamline record-keeping and align grade submissions with the academic calendars of each educational system.

The Ministry affirmed that the document will aim to elevate educational efficiency across all approved private education systems, including Arabic, American, British, and bilingual curricula. It will outline the sector’s organizational structure, define specialization roles, and provide a comprehensive work guide for all departments and sections.

Additionally, the document will clarify the philosophy behind academic equivalencies for each system and establish precise calculation methods to ensure consistency and fairness in evaluation.

In conclusion, the Ministry of Education emphasized its commitment to developing balanced policies that drive progress in the private education sector. By engaging specialists and parents in shaping school standards and systems, the ministry aims to ensure the implementation of the best educational and developmental practices.
