Dusty winds expected from Tuesday to Friday

Director of the Meteorology Department, Dharar Al-Ali, said that the country will be affected tomorrow, Tuesday, and until next Friday, with hot, dry, and active winds, sometimes strong, causing dust storms that will reduce visibility, especially in open areas.

Al-Ali added on Monday that weather maps and numerical models indicate that the country will be affected by an extension of the Indian monsoon depression, accompanied by a hot, dry air mass with moderate to brisk, and sometimes strong, northwesterly winds, ranging in speed from 20 to 60 kilometers per hour

He explained that the winds will stir up dust, reducing horizontal visibility to less than 1,000 metres in some areas, especially open areas, and causing sea waves to rise to more than six feet.

He stated that the weather is generally expected to be very hot and dusty during the day and hot to warm at night, with dust gradually settling during the evening.

He stated that the expected maximum temperatures are between 47 and 49 degrees Celsius, while the expected minimum temperatures are between 31 and 34 degrees Celsius.

He urged motorists on highways to be cautious of reduced and sudden visibility, especially on highways, and urged beachgoers to beware of high waves. He also urged those suffering from asthma and allergies to wear masks when going out.
