Dubai Police foil $25m pink diamond heist in just 8 hours

Dubai Police recovered one of the world’s rarest pink diamonds, worth $25 million, only eight hours after it was stolen by a gang of three Asians who had spent more than a year plotting the heist.
The thieves devised a “professional” scheme, gaining the trust of the diamond’s owner—a dealer who had imported the 21.25-carat stone from Europe and displayed it in his Dubai jewelry store—by posing as brokers for a wealthy buyer.
After seizing the gem, the gang attempted to smuggle it abroad by concealing it inside a small refrigerator and shipping it to an Asian country. The dealer, realizing the theft, immediately alerted authorities.
Dubai Police swiftly launched a specialized task force under the Criminal Investigation Department. Using advanced smart systems and field operations, the team identified the culprits, tracked their movements, and arrested them within hours.
The recovered diamond, certified by leading global institutes for its purity, is so rare that the chances of finding a similar stone are just 0.01 percent.
