Drone strike sparks fire near Barakah Nuclear Power Plant

A fire broke out in an external generator outside the plant’s inner perimeter following the strike, while officials confirmed no injuries, no radiological impact, and normal operations across all units.

A fire broke out in an external electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant following a drone strike, Abu Dhabi authorities confirmed on Saturday.

Emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the site in the Al Dhafra Region, where the fire was brought under control. Authorities said no injuries were reported and confirmed that there was no impact on radiological safety levels at the facility.

Officials stressed that all precautionary and safety measures were implemented in accordance with established emergency response protocols, adding that the situation remains fully contained.

The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) stated that the incident did not affect the operational safety of the nuclear power plant or the readiness of its critical systems. The authority added that all units at the facility continue to operate normally without disruption.

Authorities also urged the public to rely on official and verified sources for information and to refrain from circulating rumours or unconfirmed reports regarding the incident.
