Dr Sarah Khuraibet makes history as first Kuwaiti and Gulf woman to win ‘Kramer’
. . . the prestigious US periodontal award

Kuwaiti physician Dr Sarah Khuraibet has become the first Kuwaiti and Gulf woman to receive the Dr and Mrs Gerald M. Kramer Scholar Award for Excellence in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry, marking a significant international achievement for Kuwaiti medical talent.
The award was announced by the American Academy of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry, which presents the Kramer Award annually to one doctor among candidates enrolled in accredited periodontology residency programmes in the United States. Khuraibet was nominated for the award by her academic programme and advanced to the final stage as one of three finalists at the US level before being selected as the winner.
The Academy said her achievement reflects excellence in academic and professional work, as well as contributions to scientific research, education and patient care. Her selection also highlights the growing international presence of Kuwaiti medical professionals in specialised fields. Khuraibet, who works with Kuwait’s Ministry of Health, said the award would motivate her to continue working to serve patients and the wider community.
She expressed appreciation to those who supported her throughout her academic and professional career, noting that the award recognises academic, professional and personal excellence. The distinction places a Kuwaiti woman at the forefront of international recognition in periodontology and dental implantology, while marking a first for both Kuwait and the Gulf region in the history of the Kramer Award.
