Dr Huwailah grants judicial authority to 11 cooperative sector employees

Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Amthal Al-Huwailah has issued a ministerial decision granting judicial authority to 11 employees working in the General Administration of Cooperative Affairs, as part of the ministry’s plan to strengthen oversight mechanisms and ensure stricter enforcement of the law.

Dr Al-Huwailah said the decision reflects the ministry’s commitment to activating field inspection tools and addressing crimes and violations committed in contravention of Decree Law No. (24) of 1979 concerning cooperative societies and its amendments.

She noted that empowering qualified national cadres with judicial authority, in their official capacity, represents a key step toward enhancing transparency, safeguarding the rights of shareholders and consumers, and ensuring that cooperative societies fully comply with applicable regulations and systems, reports Al-Rai daily.

Dr Al-Huwailah explained that the decision was issued in accordance with the laws and decrees governing civil service and cooperative work, as well as the approved regulations governing judicial officers in the cooperative sector. These measures aim to ensure that assigned duties are carried out with the highest levels of efficiency and professionalism, in line with the requirements of the public interest.

The minister stressed that the ministry will not hesitate to enforce the law and monitor any violations that may undermine cooperative work. She affirmed that inspection teams will continue their field duties to ensure the proper functioning of this vital sector, contributing to the achievement of its intended developmental and social objectives.
