Dr. Al-Awadhi inspects Jahra Hospital after fire, praises emergency response teams

Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi praised the swift and coordinated efforts of medical, administrative, and engineering teams in managing a fire that broke out early Monday morning in one of the basement rooms of Jahra Hospital. Thankfully, no human casualties were reported.

In a press statement following his inspection visit to the hospital on Tuesday, Minister Al-Awadhi emphasized the importance of ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services and assessed the condition of key departments, including emergency and radiology, as well as several wards affected by the incident, reports Al-Rai daily.

He commended the rapid response of the Public Fire Force, along with support from the Ministries of Interior, Electricity, and Water. He also acknowledged the joint efforts of all involved parties in strengthening the hospital’s safety system and protecting both lives and infrastructure.

Dr. Al-Awadhi instructed the immediate completion of repair work and stressed the need for the gradual and safe resumption of full operations, reaffirming that “the safety of patients and staff remains a top priority for the Ministry.”

During the visit, the minister received a thorough briefing from Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Shammari, head of the Medical Authority; Dr. Ali Jawad, head of the Emergency Department; and other key staff. They explained the prompt activation of the hospital’s emergency plan and the seamless coordination with emergency teams across other Ministry hospitals, which helped contain the situation quickly and effectively.
