Kuwait launches initiative to streamline overseas treatment

Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, the Minister of Health, stated that the virtual health office will reduce the financial burden on the state by decreasing the number of health offices abroad.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, the Minister of Health, said the ministry is in the process of expanding virtual offices, which will operate around the clock.

Al-Awadhi stressed the importance of maintaining communication with patients abroad to expedite their treatment and facilitate access.

 

Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, the Minister of Health, announced the launch of a virtual health office designed to streamline the process for patients seeking treatment abroad. This initiative aims to accelerate access to care and improve communication with patients in countries lacking health offices, while also facilitating procedures with Kuwaiti embassies in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He emphasized that this service represents a significant advancement and a unique addition to the healthcare system, according to Al Qabas newspaper.

Minister Al-Awadhi stated that the virtual health office will reduce the financial burden on the state by decreasing the number of health offices abroad, as demonstrated by the closure of the health office in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He noted that the possibility of reducing the number of employees or closing other health offices is being studied for the future.

The health minister explained that the management of the virtual health office was approved by the Civil Service Council during the past period.

He also pointed out that the ministry is expanding virtual offices, which will operate around the clock. He stressed the importance of maintaining communication with patients abroad to expedite their treatment and facilitate access, transitioning from a paper-based system to a digital one according to a well-planned strategy.

He revealed that many projects are set to open soon as part of the ministry’s plan and strategy, which are nearing completion.

Minister Al-Awadhi emphasized the ministry’s commitment to developing the healthcare system to serve citizens better.
