Domestic workers can now transfer to private sector starting July 14
Domestic workers can now transfer to the private sector after meeting certain conditions. The new regulations are in effect from July 14, 2024 to September 12, 2024.
• The transfer must be approved by the current employer.
• The worker must have resided with the current employer for at least one year.
• A transfer fee of 50 dinars will be charged, plus an additional 10 dinars for each year of service.
First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Youssef has issued a decision regulating the transfer of domestic workers to the private sector.
This decision outlines the eligibility criteria, transfer fees, and relevant legal considerations.
The decision includes the following articles:
Article 1: It is permissible to transfer domestic workers to work in the private sector, subject to the following conditions:
- Approval of the employer under whom the domestic worker is registered.
- The domestic worker must have resided for one year with the employer under whom the worker is registered.
- A fee of 50 dinars will be charged for the transfer, in addition to a fee of 10 dinars for each year of service.
Article 2: The provisions of clause 9 of Article 1 of Ministerial Decision No. 57/A for the year 2016, referred to herein, shall be suspended.
The work on Article 10 of the administrative decision No. 842 for the year 2015, referred to herein, shall be suspended for the period of validity of this decision.
Article 3: This decision shall be effective from 14 July 2024 until 12 September 2024, and shall be published in the Official Gazette. It also will also inform competent authorities on implementing its provisions.
