Doctor, pilot hired by an airline face uncertain future
In high-profile case security forces seize liquor manufacturing lab, ammunition

As part of the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing efforts to combat crimes involving unlicensed weapons and ammunition, personnel from the Research and Investigation Department affiliated to the General Department of Weapons Investigations have taken into custody two persons employed by an airline — one a doctor and the other a pilot — for possessing unlicensed ammunition and home-manufactured alcohol.
According to security sources, the doctor was arrested at the Kuwait International Airport, after 64 bullets were found concealed in his baggage. During initial questioning, he confessed that the ammunition was his and that he had received it from the second suspect, the pilot.
Acting on this information, the authorities arrested the pilot — a captain — also at the airport. When confronted, he confirmed the doctor’s statement. A warrant from the Public Prosecution was then obtained to search the pilot’s residence and vehicle, leading to the discovery of 500 rounds of ammunition.
Further investigation led to a search of a second property owned by the pilot in the Al-Shaab Al-Bahri area, where 87 bottles of alcohol were seized, along with equipment and materials used for alcohol manufacturing. The pilot admitted that he had been producing liquor at home using tools and ingredients purchased online.
Both suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further action.
