Disability Affairs resumes distribution of aid device according to int’l standards
The Public Authority for Disability Affairs (PADA) has begun distributing assistive and prosthetic devices, including wheelchairs and hearing aids, to a number of beneficiaries at the Social Welfare Complex in Sulaibikhat, in coordination with the Ministry of Social Affairs.
The initiative aims to enhance independence, improve quality of life, and enable people with disabilities to carry out their daily activities safely and effectively.
PADA Director-General Dr. Dalal Al-Othman stated that the distribution process follows precise professional procedures through the Medical Rehabilitation Center and the Physiotherapy Department, reports Al-Rai daily.
Each beneficiary undergoes accurate measurements to ensure the suitability of the device, along with full guidance on usage, care, and safe mobility.
Beneficiaries are only discharged after confirming their ability to use the device properly, particularly in the case of electric wheelchairs.
She added that all devices are dispensed according to international specifications and based on recommendations from a specialized technical committee, given the varying needs of each case.
Meanwhile, Acting Deputy Director General for Medical, Psychological and Social Services Dr. Khalifa Al-Hila’a confirmed that the Authority has resumed daily distribution of assistive devices.
He emphasized that each case is evaluated medically, functionally, and rehabilitative-wise by specialized committees to determine the most appropriate device, underscoring the Authority’s commitment to serving and empowering people with disabilities in society.
