First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef Al-Sabah visited the site of the Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield Memorial in Washington, D.C., which is set to be inaugurated in the fall of next year.

During his visit, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef received a detailed briefing on the progress of construction work for the memorial, which stands as a lasting tribute to the sacrifices made during the 1991 Kuwait Liberation War.

Project officials explained the various construction phases, as well as the technical and artistic elements of the design, which symbolize the solidarity and cooperation among the coalition nations and honor the heroism of the soldiers who took part in the liberation of Kuwait, reportsai daily.

In a press statement, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef expressed his deep appreciation for the dedication and efforts invested in completing this important memorial, located at a prominent site in Washington, D.C., adjacent to the Abraham Lincoln Memorial.

He emphasized that the Desert Storm and Desert Shield Memorial carries profound symbolic significance, representing the historical and enduring friendship between Kuwait and the United States.

The monument, he noted, is a powerful reminder of the shared commitment to peace, freedom, and mutual respect that continues to define relations between the two nations.

“This memorial stands not only as a tribute to the courage of those who fought for Kuwait’s liberation,” Sheikh Fahd said, “but also as a testament to the unbreakable bond and shared values that unite our two countries.”
