December sees surge in government projects as Tenders Authority issues 215 contracts

In December, the Board of Directors of the Central Agency for Public Tenders approved the issuance of 215 tenders and practices covering 56 government entities, as part of efforts to move forward with projects currently under implementation or under consideration.
Over the same period, the board reviewed 101 recommendations submitted to the authority, in addition to examining 91 grievances and complaints filed by companies operating in the market, reflecting active oversight and regulatory engagement, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to the authority, bids were officially opened for 33 tenders in line with the deadlines specified for each project. The agency also imposed 10 penalties on companies found to be in violation of tender regulations.
Across nine board meetings held in December, members further examined 96 requests for extension orders related to tenders whose contractual timeframes had expired.
In addition, the board issued decisions on 21 change orders, addressing amendments required for ongoing projects.
The authority stressed that these actions form part of its mandate to ensure transparency, efficiency, and compliance in public procurement procedures, while maintaining momentum in the execution of government projects.
