Customs officers bust $250,000 smuggling attempt at Abdali Port
A customs officer noticed a woman walking suspiciously as if concealing something, and upon detention, she refused to disclose the money’s source and was handed over to authorities.
An official source at the General Directorate of Customs reported the arrest of a resident attempting to smuggle $250,000 while departing from Abdali Port, Al Rai newspaper reported.
The source told the newspaper that while monitoring and inspecting passengers at Abdali Port, a customs officer noticed a woman walking unusually in the customs area, as if she were hiding something in her clothing.
She was referred to an inspector, who discovered that she was attempting to smuggle $250,000.
The source added that the detained resident did not disclose the reason for smuggling the money or its source and was referred to the relevant authorities for further action.
