Customs Dept seizes 16 kilos of chewing tobacco at Kuwait International Airport

The General Administration of Customs announced that it foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of prohibited tobacco into the country through Kuwait International Airport.
The contraband was found during routine inspections of luggage arriving from India.
According to the administration, X-ray scanners detected a suspicious object inside a large suitcase, prompting officers to initiate standard procedures and verify the contents once the passenger collected his luggage, reports Al-Rai daily.
A detailed manual inspection revealed approximately 16 kilograms of prohibited (chewing) tobacco, which is banned under customs laws and regulations.
The confiscated materials and the passenger have been referred to the competent authorities to complete the legal action.
The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to tightening control over all luggage and parcels entering the country through various ports, with the aim of protecting society and preventing the entry of illegal substances.
