‘Cultural Summer’ Festival nurtures children’s creative talents
Workshops in story writing and media professions engage young minds at Al-Shamiya Theater

As part of the 17th edition of the “Cultural Summer” festival, the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters organized a Children’s Club event to develop children’s creative skills, such as the ‘Radio and Television Profession’ and ‘Story Writing Profession’ workshops, at the Al-Shamiya Theater.
Storyteller Jihan Ali, who conducted the writing workshop, told KUNA that the event saw strong engagement from the participating children. Over the two-day program, they learned the fundamentals of story writing, including structure, character development, setting, conflict, resolution, and purpose. The workshop fostered a collaborative environment where older children supported and guided the younger ones.
For her part, Dr. Haifa Al-Sallal, a specialist in gifted children’s education, who presented the “Radio and Television Professions” workshop, said she introduced children to media professions, most notably broadcasting.
She also explained that the workshop addressed the most important traits a broadcaster should possess, such as emotional control, presentation skills, and self-confidence.
For his part, trainer Salem Al-Kandari, who participated in the same workshop, noted that the focus was on several specializations, such as director, editor, and sound and lighting technician. “I talked about my own side as a technician, in addition to providing a simplified explanation of technical tasks in the media field,” he said.
