CSC approves new structures for three ministries
. . . cancels assistant undersecretary assignments

The Civil Service Commission has approved the integration of newly downsized organizational structures from three ministries — Finance, Social Affairs, and Public Works — into its automated systems.
According to informed sources, there is a government-wide initiative to cancel the assignments of all assistant undersecretaries in ministries that have revised their structures. Only those holding official appointment decrees will retain their positions, reports Al-Jarida daily.
The move is intended to restart the process of appointing directors general and department heads in affected ministries within one month at most.
For the Ministry of Social Affairs specifically, sources revealed that its new organizational structure includes the creation of a Director General post overseeing five directors responsible for:
- Planning Sector (3 departments)
- Finance Sector (4 departments)
- Cooperative Sector (3 departments)
- Development Sector (5 departments)
- Social Welfare Sector (4 departments)
Each director will supervise the departments within their respective sector. Selection of directors general will be carried out by the minister, following interviews conducted by the Personnel Affairs Committee, headed by the ministry undersecretary and two newly appointed assistant undersecretaries.
The Civil Service Bureau had previously approved the ministry’s updated structure last month. The revised structure includes 25 departments, a reduction of 10 departments compared to the previous framework.
The departments that were eliminated include Technical Office, Councils and Committees, Research and Statistics, Psychological Counseling Center, Activities and Media, Legal Studies, Membership Affairs and Advertising of Cooperative Societies and Unions, Citizen Service, Administrative Affairs and Women and Children Affairs
These changes are part of broader administrative reform efforts to streamline public service operations and enhance government efficiency.
