Crown Prince leads Kuwaiti delegation to 80th UN General Assembly, highlights Kuwait’s commitment to peace and int’l cooperation

Representing His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah is leading Kuwait’s delegation to the high-level week of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, marking the 80th anniversary of the organization’s founding.
The event brings together 105 heads of state and government.
His Highness expressed pride in representing the Amir at this significant session, describing it as a “great honor” and emphasizing the importance of renewing the international community’s commitment to reforming and enhancing the UN’s effectiveness in addressing global challenges. He stressed that any anticipated reforms should strengthen the international system, promote peace and security, and ensure development for all peoples, reports Al-Jarida daily.
The Assembly’s agenda includes key meetings, notably on the two-state solution, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France. His Highness highlighted optimism that these discussions will lead to tangible progress, including recognition of the State of Palestine by major countries — a milestone toward its full UN membership.
His Highness also plans to hold bilateral meetings with world leaders, as well as discussions with financial institutions and major U.S. companies partnering with Kuwait, supporting the country’s Vision 2035 strategic goals.
Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya affirmed that the participation of HH the Crown Prince underscores Kuwait’s global standing and steadfast commitment to the UN Charter, emphasizing peace, security, development, and human rights.
Al-Yahya noted that Kuwait continues to support multilateralism and international cooperation to address global challenges, including climate change, armed conflicts, and sustainable development.
Upon arrival at John F. Kennedy Airport, His Highness was welcomed by Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs at the Amiri Diwan Mazen Al-Essa, Kuwait’s Ambassador to the United States Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah, and Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Tariq Al-Bannai.
His departure from Kuwait was attended by senior officials including the Prime Minister, Chief of the National Guard, First Deputy Prime Minister, and other dignitaries.
During a visit to Kuwait’s permanent UN headquarters in New York, the Crown Prince met the Kuwaiti permanent delegation, conveying the Amir’s greetings and directives to highlight Kuwait’s pioneering role in international forums, promote its image abroad, and encourage the delegation to perform their duties with excellence.
The official Kuwaiti delegation includes Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and senior officials accompanying the Crown Prince throughout the high-level sessions.
