Criminal Court Fines Central Prison Director for Failing to Present Accused

The Criminal Court, presided over by Counselor Abdul Wahab Al-Maili, has imposed a fine of 2,800 Kuwaiti dinars on the Director of the Central Prison, in his official capacity, for failing to bring accused individuals to their scheduled court hearings at the Palace of Justice.

The court issued a 300-dinar fine for each case in which a defendant was not presented. The issue came to light when the court convened to hear the Public Prosecution’s argument in a murder case, only to discover that the accused had not been transported from prison. Further investigation revealed that multiple accused individuals were absent from their respective trial sessions.

As a result, the court imposed the penalty on the prison director, citing the obstruction of judicial proceedings due to the failure to present the accused for trial.
