Crew safe as Kuwait Oil Tanker ‘Al-Salmi’ survives attack off UAE coast
Sheikh Khaled Al-Sabah condemns attack on oil tanker, calls for safer sea routes

The Acting CEO of Kuwait Oil Tanker Company, Sheikh Khaled Ahmed Al-Sabah, confirmed the safety of all crew members aboard the Kuwaiti oil tanker “Al-Salmi”, which was subjected to what he described as a “heinous attack” at midnight yesterday while anchored off the coast of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
Speaking in a telephone interview with the Kuwait TV, Sheikh Khaled stated that all crew members are in good health and high spirits, stressing that the damage was confined to the vessel’s hull.
He added that investigations are currently underway to determine the nature of the attack and whether it was carried out using drones or missile systems, reports Al-Rai daily.
He further explained that a fire which erupted onboard during the incident was swiftly contained by the company’s operations and emergency response teams, and was fully brought under control by 4:30 a.m. Kuwait time.
Sheikh Khaled strongly condemned the attack, describing it as an inhumane act of aggression that threatens global energy transportation routes.
He emphasized the urgent need to secure safer navigation corridors for oil tankers and to ensure that vessels and their crews are protected from escalating risks in key maritime areas.
