Court turns down appeal filed by Kuwaiti Doctor, finds him guilty of embezzling state money

Sentenced to five-year prison term, dismissed from work and ordered to pay 345,000 Kuwaiti dinars in fines

Court rejects an appeal filed by a Kuwaiti doctor, and upheld the five-year term, a fine of 345,000 Kuwaiti dinars, and dismissal from public service.

The accused was found guilty of unlawfully receiving 115,000 dinars in salaries despite being absent from work for five years, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to legal documents submitted by the legal department of the Ministry of Health, the doctor was employed at a government hospital but had not reported for duty for five consecutive years. Investigations revealed that he was residing abroad throughout that period, yet continued to receive his full salary.

The fraudulent disbursement was made possible through collusion with another employee. Following these findings, the Ministry filed a report with the Public Prosecution, which launched a criminal investigation. Authorities confirmed the doctor’s extended absence from Kuwait through travel records.

The court, after reviewing the case and evidence, ruled to maintain the original sentence, reinforcing the state’s stance on combating corruption and misuse of public funds.
