Court refers Al-Mutair case to new circuit in latest insult charges

The Criminal Court convened yesterday to examine a new lawsuit against former MP Mohammed Al-Mutair, accusing him of insulting the Emirate. Al-Mutair was absent from the session, which was presided over by Counselor Hamoud Al-Shami.
The court decided to refer the case to the chief justice to assign it to a different judicial circuit for further consideration, reports Al-Anba daily.
This marks a second legal challenge for Al-Mutair on similar grounds. In February, the Criminal Court had previously acquitted him in another case where he was accused of insulting the emirate and the judiciary during an election rally.
