Court of Cassation adjudicates 20,000 appeals, focuses on clearing backlog
Court of Cassation adjudicated approximately 20,000 appeals during the past judicial year, with the judiciary prioritizing faster case disposal and reducing the backlog in the new judicial year.
Speaking at the Court of Cassation’s General Assembly, Supreme Judicial Council President and Chief Justice Counselor Dr Adel Boursli stressed the importance of consolidating legal and judicial principles, upholding the rule of law and strengthening judicial efficiency. He identified faster adjudication, clearing pending cases and making greater use of digital justice and automated litigation as key priorities for the new judicial year.
Boursli also highlighted rulings and decisions that have strengthened established principles of legal and judicial practice, including a historic first since the court’s establishment involving preliminary rulings and decisions to suspend or reject enforcement. He said the General Assembly provides an important forum for judicial consultation and coordination, supporting continued improvements in judicial performance and the administration of justice.
