Council of Ministers to review 434 citizenship withdrawal cases

The Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Nationality, chaired by Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, today issued the decision to withdraw the Kuwaiti nationality from 434 people.
These cases will be presented to the Council of Ministers for further consideration, according to Al-Rai daily.
The details of the decision are as follows:
- Revocation of Kuwaiti Nationality: Five cases were revoked under Articles (10) and (11) of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. (15) of 1959 and its amendments, involving dual nationality. One notable case involved the citizenship of a well-known actor being revoked following the withdrawal of citizenship from his father and children.
- Citizenship Withdrawal for Fraudulent Cases: The citizenship of 275 individuals was withdrawn under Article (21 bis A) of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law, related to fraud and false statements, as well as those who acquired citizenship through dependency.
- Citizenship Revocation for Sons of Kuwaiti Women: One case of citizenship withdrawal was made under Article (13), Paragraph (4) of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law, citing the highest interest of the country.
- Withdrawal Due to Noble Deeds and Dependency: Sixteen cases had their citizenship revoked under Article (13), Paragraph (4) of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law due to the country’s best interest, including those who acquired citizenship through dependency.
- 1965 Census-Related Citizenship Withdrawal: One hundred and thirty-seven cases had their Kuwaiti nationality revoked due to lack of registration in the 1965 census, along with those who acquired citizenship through dependency.
The decision marks a significant step in the ongoing review of nationality cases in Kuwait.
