Corpses of a Kuwaiti citizen and a Saudi who disappeared in Iraq found
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, said that the authorities in Iraq today found two bodies belonging to a Kuwaiti citizen and another of a Saudi residing in Kuwait, who had recently disappeared in Anbar Governorate in Iraq.
The Minister expressed his pain and sadness at this horrific news, hoping that God Almighty would bestow His mercy upon them and grant their families patience and solace. He also expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the two victims of this tragedy.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Ministry followed up around the clock with the Iraqi authorities, who made great efforts to find them as quickly as possible, adding that coordination is currently underway with the government of the Republic of Iraq to find out the circumstances of the incident and the results of the ongoing investigations, indicating that he instructed the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Baghdad to follow up and complete the procedures. necessary in this regard.
The Minister praised the commendable efforts made by the Iraqi leadership and authorities to reveal the fate of the deceased within a short period.
A statement published by the Iraqi Joint Operations Command said: “Following the loss of contact with the Saudi and Kuwaiti Gulf citizens who entered Iraq on a tourist visa, under direct guidance by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and with close attention and follow-up, intelligence efforts and search and investigation operations were intensified in the vast desert extending between the governorates of Salah al-Din,” Anbar and Nineveh.
The statement added: “After mobilizing all efforts and allocating large units to the duty of search, investigation and careful intelligence follow-up, the bodies of the two deceased were found after in a burnt car which had apparently exploded because of a land mine left behind by the terrorist ISIS group. The search party found the charred remains of both men.
He went on to say: “At a time when we offer our condolences to the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait, we express our sincere sadness and sympathy to the families of the Gulf citizens.”
