Coordination underway with suppliers to ensure steady egg supply in local markets: Al-Awad

The Chairperson of the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies, Maryam Al-Awad, said the Union is closely monitoring the availability of eggs in local markets as part of its efforts to maintain price stability and protect consumers from any unjustified price increases — particularly with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan.

She explained that the Union had addressed all cooperative societies through official letter No. (2025/248) dated September 25, 2025, requesting updates on product availability and relevant data.

Al-Awad commended the initiative of Acting Director General Faisal Al-Mutairi for raising the issue and working toward effective solutions.

She noted that while several societies have responded to the Union’s request, some have yet to do so, urging them to respond promptly to ensure accurate statistics that reflect the actual market situation.

Al-Awad added that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has been notified to take appropriate measures. She further emphasized that coordination between the Union and products supplying companies is ongoing to guarantee the steady flow of goods and price stability in the coming period.

She reaffirmed the Union’s commitment to performing its supervisory role in line with its objectives — foremost among them curbing artificial price hikes, safeguarding consumers’ interests, and supporting the stability of the local market.
