Cooperative society manager arrested for soliciting bribes
The Ministry of Interior urged all citizens and residents to promptly report any incidents involving requests for money or gifts from employees in exchange for performing their duties.

• The Ministry of Interior stressed that it will not hesitate to take the necessary measures to combat corruption or breaches of trust, continuing to take strong action against those who misuse their positions for personal gain.
The Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of a cooperative society manager on charges of soliciting a bribe in exchange for services, reported Arabic daily Al Rai.
The Security Media Department stated, “In line with the directives of political leadership and Kuwait’s commitment to international standards in combating corruption, the Ministry of Interior will continue to take strong action against those who misuse their positions for personal gain.”
“The competent security services arrested a citizen working as a manager of a cooperative society after he requested a financial bribe in exchange for performing tasks assigned to him by his job, following an official report submitted to the relevant authorities,” she stated. “After coordinating with the Public Prosecution, a legal permit was issued allowing the documentation of meetings and conversations, with all details recorded in audio and video. This led to his being caught red-handed and referred to the competent authority to take the necessary legal measures against him.”
The ministry stressed that “this crime is a serious one that undermines public confidence in public institutions,” affirming that “it will not hesitate to take the necessary measures to combat any violations related to corruption or breach of trust.”
The ministry called on all citizens and residents to “immediately report any similar incidents, whether involving requests for money or gifts from employees in exchange for performing their duties,” stressing that “Kuwaiti law exempts from punishment anyone who reports a crime to the relevant security authorities, whether before or after it occurs.”
