Coop manager arrested for alleged bribe in isolated incident

The Ministry of Social Affairs said the individual recently arrested by security authorities — following social media reports accusing him of soliciting a bribe from a contractor in exchange for facilitating transactions — is the general manager of a cooperative society.
He was appointed through the ‘Fakhrna’ platform affiliated to the Public Authority for Manpower, and selected by the four-member committee tasked with Kuwaitizing supervisory positions in cooperative societies, according to Al-Jarida daily.
The ministry emphasized that the case is currently under investigation by the Public Prosecution and described it as an isolated incident that does not reflect the overall integrity of Kuwait’s cooperative societies movement.
The committee includes representatives from the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Public Authority for Manpower, the Union of Cooperative Societies, and the relevant cooperative entity.
The ministry urged the public to verify information through official sources and refrain from spreading unverified claims, warning that misinformation may result in legal consequences.
