During the mullet fishing season, the Ministry ensures that fishing baskets complies with specific regulations, including controlled weight limits and other agreed-upon requirements -- Al-Ansari

Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Commercial Control Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, announced ongoing coordination between the Ministry and the Kuwaiti Fishermen’s Union aimed at resolving challenges and facilitating the smooth entry of fish into local markets.
In a press statement, Al-Ansari emphasized that the Ministry’s primary goal is to streamline commercial operations, ensure the continuous flow of goods and food products into the market, and maintain price stability.
He noted that the Ministry is working closely with the Fishermen’s Union to remove any obstacles that may hinder the availability of fresh fish to consumers, reports Al-Rai daily.
Al-Ansari explained that during the mullet fishing season, the Ministry ensures that the entry of fishing baskets complies with specific regulations, including controlled weight limits and other agreed-upon requirements.
These measures, he said, are designed to accelerate the process of transporting baskets to auction, ensuring efficiency and transparency in market operations.
He further highlighted that the Ministry of Commerce maintains active supervision over fish auctions, whether held at the East Fish Market or in the Ahmadi area within Al Kout Market. This monitoring aims to uphold fair trading practices, prevent market manipulation, and guarantee that all procedures are conducted in accordance with established laws and regulations.
Al-Ansari reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the fishing sector as a vital component of Kuwait’s food security and economic stability. He stressed that the Ministry will continue its oversight efforts to ensure that fish supplies reach consumers in a timely manner and at fair prices, while also safeguarding the interests of both fishermen and consumers.
