CMA mandates ‘First Market Companies’ to publish sustainability reports by 2026

The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) has issued a circular requiring all companies listed on the First Market to disclose sustainability reports starting in 2026. This move aims to enhance the regulation of securities activity, ensuring fairness and transparency, in line with global best practices.

In its Circular No. 4 of 2025, the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) explained that the decision is based on Article (1-17-4) of Book Twelve (Listing Rules) within the Executive Regulations of Law No. 7 of 2010. This article stipulates that companies listed on the markets specified under Article (1-8) must disclose sustainability reports, in accordance with the requirements outlined by the Exchange’s rules.

Furthermore, under this directive, companies listed on the First Market are required to prepare and disclose sustainability reports for the year 2025. These reports must be published on the Exchange’s website no later than the end of the second quarter of the fiscal year (June 2026), considering the different financial periods of each company.

In this context, Boursa Kuwait Securities Company will take the necessary steps to amend its rules in accordance with this directive, ensuring its smooth and effective implementation.
