Citizenship scam lands Gulf family 7-year jail term, KD 2.5 million fine
The case dates back to 1989, when a Gulf national conspired with a Kuwaiti citizen to falsely register his children under fake names, using forged data to obtain passports and IDs.

• The Kuwaiti citizen involved in the nationality forgery case died after being implicated in adding Gulf nationals to his file, with investigations uncovering twelve related cases of forged nationality.
The Criminal Court, presided over by Counselor Dr. Khaled Al-Omara, sentenced a Gulf father and his two sons to seven years in prison and fined them KD 2.5 million for forging Kuwaiti citizenship to unlawfully receive state salaries and benefits, reported Arabic daily Al Qabas.
The incident stems from a Gulf national’s agreement with a Kuwaiti citizen in 1989 to add his children to the citizen’s nationality file under false names. The crime was carried out by submitting incorrect information and data to the General Directorate of Nationality and Passports to obtain passports and civil ID cards.
The investigation officer stated that the Kuwaiti citizen involved in the case had died after being implicated in a nationality forgery case involving the addition of Gulf nationals to his file. Investigations revealed twelve cases of forged nationality linked to him.
The court ordered the Gulf defendants to repay the salaries and benefits they had unlawfully received.
