Citizen sentenced to one year for chasing, colliding with wife’s car

The accused was tried after his wife reported that he followed and crashed into their vehicle, attempting to stop them while she was with her brother, sister, and children due to family disputes.

The accused violated three laws—penal, domestic violence protection, and traffic regulations—by recklessly pursuing and colliding with his clients’ vehicle, endangering their safety, damaging property, and terrifying their children.

The Misdemeanor Court has sentenced a citizen for deliberately chasing and colliding with his wifes car on the streets of Al-Ahmadi Governorate in October 2024, according to Al Rai newspaper.

The court issued its judgment against the accused on three counts: intentionally damaging the victims’ vehicle with the intent to cause harm, recklessly driving his vehicle with negligence and endangering himself and others, and deliberately disrupting traffic.

The accused was referred to trial after his wife filed a complaint stating that while she was with her brother, sister, and children, she encountered her husband, who chased their vehicle and deliberately collided with it in an attempt to stop them by force due to family disputes.

The victims’ lawyer, Khalil Haidar, stated that the court reached its verdict after thoroughly reviewing the case, its circumstances, and the evidence, including the accused’s confession and witness testimonies.

Haidar emphasized that the accused violated three laws—penal, domestic violence protection, and traffic regulations—by recklessly pursuing and colliding with his clients’ vehicle, endangering their safety, damaging property, and terrifying their children.
