Citizen gets five years, accomplices three each in smuggling attempt of bedoun

The Criminal Court, presided over by Counselor Al-Dhuwaihi, has sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to five years in prison for attempting to smuggle individuals whose citizenships had been revoked.
Three accomplices — including a corporal stationed at the Nuwaiseeb border crossing, the defendant’s brother, and a bedoun — were each sentenced to three years in prison for falsifying entry and exit documents used in the operation, reports Al-Rai daily.
The case emerged following a security operation involving a detective ambush, which led to the arrest and photographing of the accused.
The court, however, refrained from issuing sentences against three other individuals involved in the case: a juvenile, a woman, and a bedoun, citing discretionary legal grounds.
The ruling underscores the judiciary’s continued efforts to confront document forgery and cross-border smuggling attempts involving individuals without legal status.
