Chinese e-commerce TEMU and SHEIN prosper in Kuwait
Al-Qabas learned that the Chinese application “SHEIN” for consumer goods supplies about 20 thousand orders to Kuwait daily, while the “TEMU” application, which focuses on fashion goods and accessories, supplies more than 8 thousand orders to the country daily.
The Chinese e-commerce companies such as TEMU and SHEIN are active around the world, and there is an increasing demand for their various products due to their low purchasing and shipping costs, which makes them attractive and competitive with their counterparts all over the world.
After the Chinese company “Alibaba” led the e-commerce sector in China, and “Walmart” and “Amazon” in the United States, TEMU was able to threaten the throne of the three companies by topping the list of the most downloaded applications in the two countries.
On its part, SHEIN was able to account for 50% of fast fashion e-commerce sales in the United States by the end of 2022, and recorded global sales exceeding $32 billion in 2023, an increase of 40% over 2022.
