Children’s home shut for ten days amid viral outbreak

The Ministry of Social Affairs, through the Family Nursery Department in the Social Care Sector, decided to close the children’s home as a precaution due to a viral outbreak among residents.

A viral infection spreading through the air led to multiple cases at the childrens home, prompting officials to isolate affected sections before ordering a full 10-day closure to contain the outbreak.

The Ministry of Social Affairs, through the Family Nursery Department in the Social Care Sector, has decided to close the children’s home for ten days as a precaution due to a viral outbreak among residents in Sections 3 and 6, sources told Al Jarida newspaper.

Sources said the administration decided to cancel all scheduled activities at the home and required employees to wear protective masks, urging any staff member showing signs of infection to inform the administration immediately.

They noted that the head of the children’s home reported symptoms suggesting a health issue in one of the residents. After a hospital evaluation, it was confirmed as a viral infection currently spreading through the air. The attending physician recommended isolating the child, which was done, along with another resident who exhibited the same symptoms.

The infection then spread to a third child in the same section, prompting officials to isolate the entire section. However, as cases began appearing in other sections, authorities decided to close the entire home and suspend all internal and external activities for ten days until the situation improved.
