Chest Diseases Hospital completes 1,600+ heart surgeries in 2025 milestone

The Chest Hospital has reinforced its standing as one of the country’s leading specialized centers for cardiac and thoracic care after performing more than 1,600 open-heart surgeries and cardiac interventions in 2025. The procedures covered both adult and pediatric cases, reflecting the high competence of medical teams and the hospital’s advanced operational readiness.

Dr. Jamal Al-Fadhli, Medical Director of the Chest Hospital and member of the Kuwait Heart Association, said the milestone highlights the rapid development of the hospital’s medical infrastructure and the continued support of the Ministry of Health in upgrading equipment and attracting distinguished medical professionals. He noted that the rise in surgical volumes has been matched by strict adherence to quality standards and patient safety protocols.

Al-Fadhli added that the hospital remains committed to promoting a culture of quality and institutional excellence, praising the Ministry of Health’s ongoing efforts to enhance treatment and diagnostic services across government hospitals, reports Al-Rai daily.

He expressed appreciation to all medical, nursing and technical staff for their dedication and tireless efforts to provide the highest standards of healthcare. He added that the next phase will see expanded use of advanced technologies, alongside strengthened training programs and scientific partnerships, in line with national plans to develop the healthcare sector and elevate medical services.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Ayyar, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon and member of the Kuwait Heart Association, said the surgeries performed during the year included a broad range of delicate and complex cases, such as coronary artery bypass procedures, heart valve repair and replacement, advanced open-heart surgeries, as well as catheterization and interventional cases. Emergency operations requiring immediate intervention to save lives were also carried out.

He noted that the hospital relies on the latest surgical technologies, advanced imaging systems and internationally recognized safety protocols, contributing to higher success rates, fewer complications and faster patient recovery.

Head of the Thoracic Surgery Department, Dr. Darrar Al-Shehab, emphasized that close integration between cardiac and thoracic surgery teams plays a key role in managing shared and complex cases. He said teamwork and precise clinical protocols are central to achieving the best outcomes for patients.

Meanwhile, Dr. Faisal Al-Saeedi, Head of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, said the hospital performed numerous delicate operations for children with congenital heart defects in accordance with the highest international standards. The use of advanced equipment and modern techniques, he added, has improved recovery prospects and quality of life for young patients.
