CBK launches 5th Edition of Cybersecurity Leaders Program to boost national expertise

Part of the broader "Kafa’a" program, spearheaded by the CBK in collaboration with Kuwaiti banks and administered by the Institute of Banking Studies (IBS)

In line with its strategic goal of enhancing national capabilities in the banking sector and strengthening technical proficiency in cybersecurity, the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) has announced the launch of the fifth cycle of the “Cybersecurity Leaders Program.”

This initiative is part of the broader “Kafa’a” program, spearheaded by the CBK in collaboration with Kuwaiti banks and administered by the Institute of Banking Studies (IBS), reports Al-Jarida daily.

CBK Governor and Chairman of IBS, Basil Al-Haroun, emphasized that the program aligns with the Bank’s long-term vision to develop a resilient and technologically advanced financial sector capable of addressing cybersecurity risks posed by the rapid evolution of modern technologies.

The advanced training course is specifically designed for Kuwaiti professionals in information and network security, offering a unique opportunity to sharpen their skills and build leadership capacity in the field. The objective is to cultivate a new generation of technical leaders proficient in designing and implementing cutting-edge cybersecurity frameworks tailored for Kuwait’s banking and financial institutions.

Al-Haroun highlighted that the program reflects the fruitful partnership between the Central Bank, local banks, and the IBS, and forms part of a broader ecosystem of initiatives aimed at qualifying and empowering national talent.

The program will be conducted in collaboration with the SANS Institute, one of the world’s premier cybersecurity training providers, recognized for its comprehensive courses and globally accredited certifications. Spanning a period of three months, the training will conclude with a special workshop in partnership with the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), further enriching participants’ global perspective and expertise.

The governor explained that selection will be based on transparent and objective criteria, including written assessments and personal interviews. The application window is open from Thursday, May 29, to June 30, and interested candidates can find full program details and submit their applications via the official Kafa’a initiative website: kafaakw.org.

This strategic initiative is a key step in reinforcing Kuwait’s digital infrastructure and ensuring the financial sector is prepared to face emerging threats, while simultaneously nurturing a pool of highly skilled cybersecurity professionals.
